I have a similar monitor which works well. There is no such sound in that. That might be coming from the speaker on the monitor. This is a common issue for monitor which comes with speaker support. Just remove the audio cable from backside and then reconnect the back. If you have a desktop speaker then remove the connection from backside and use the desktop ones.

I just bought one there is less than an hour and I connected DVI. For now I am of the opinion that Internet use text, few displays of photos, and TNT HD full screen. All that looks pretty okay, I have a 19 CRT quality, I have to use a little longer to have an opinion more relevant. Regarding the glossy, actually when it's off we see it, but when it is lit it is not worse than my CRT.

For this try to temporarily set you color to 6500K and brightness and contrast to 40 to 60, but it is refined. I run on Vista and I Truetype font smoothing enabled, I tried to invalidate as I read on some articles that advocated here as DVI, and although not, 1920x1080 96dpi and smoothing is effective Truetype. Readability is correct 96dpi, but some will find little here.

I just did a test with 60Hz 1920x1080 VGA G865 chipset not really first youth (map Asrock P4i65G, integrated GMA), and here is working properly. I can not say much more because I shoot in VGA to DVI on the usual machine. To optimize the true type font smoothing in Vista there a utility line at Microsoft and it is effective even DVI. Try to calibrate the same properly.

The 2159v is the same monitor but with a slab of a diagonal of 21.5 inches (54.61 cm), as indicated by its reference. The only notable difference that justifies going to 169 euros is the proposed definition is poured in Full HD with 1920x1080 pixels. Again nothing special, you're in the market price, it is even slightly below the rate, as here with the Samsung SyncMaster 2233SN C .

Do yourself a favor and do not touch anything inside that monitor.

The noise is likely from the flyback transformer or a leaking Cathode Ray Tube. At any rate, if you are not an electronics mechanic, then messing around inside a monitor is a quick way to put a serious hurtin' on yourself, and you can easily kill yourself.
If the monitor is under warranty do reach HP support for assistance
