random daily X lockups coming from Nvidia; NVRM: Xid (0006:00): 8

I am having an issue with the nVidia driver which is having the daily lock up. In that case i can only use the Magic SysReq keys or reboot the system to work with the issue. I am working on the brand new graphic card so don't think so that this is the issue with the same. So help me with random daily X lockups coming from Nvidia; NVRM: Xid (0006:00): 8. Thanks in advance.

The error which you are getting shows that there is some issue with the GPU which is not functioning while running the with the driver that means that the system is not stable. So it is advisable that you should run the memtest86+ which ensure you about the GPU is firmly seated in the socket and also let you know that you power supply is running with the proper power rating or not.

I have tried running the Memtest86+ which you have suggested and could not found any error with the same. Also i have checked whether my GPU is properly inserted in the socket or not. I have removed the GPU and the reinserted the same. But that did not resolve my issue. So help me with more solution of it.

Ok then try this out. Just go to the system and the to the Administration and then to the Hardware driver and check whether the restricted drivers for your NVIDIA is enabled or not. After enabling the same a dialog box will appear. All you have to o is to check whether linux-headers-XXX and linux-restricted-modules-XXX are installed or not.

Here is one more trick which might help you to get rid of this issue so just go through the same and let me know whether this is working for you or not
    • Start Synaptic Package Manager
    • Look for Search nvidia
    • Install 177 and glx-177
    • Ensure that e nvidia settings is installed
    • Reboot
    • Go to the Hardware Drivers
    • Activated 177
    • run the "gksudo nvidia-settings"

This is the problem with the new X.Org which is less trusting on the xorg.conf file. So i have renamed the xorg.conf file to the xorg_conf_backup.txt and then i saved the same with the NVidia setting which asked me about the location of the file i have defined the same. So you also try the same. Thanks
