Hi all,

Do not use Seagate or Maxtor without direct authorization of the firmware update, because different versions of the hard disk corresponding to different versions of the firmware, if you use the incorrect version will cause the hard disk can not run. Check and reply.
Seagate hard drive without the authorization of the firmware application will result in the hard disk warranty failure, because it will be seen as unauthorized changes. If your hard disk with the Dell, Apple, Gateway, etc. provided with OEM computer, then absolutely do not apply the firmware update, because this will lead to charge by the manufacturer warranty. Contact your OEM provider directly. All the best.
We have clearly Maxtor SATA II hard drive and nVidia nForce4 controller, the following problems:
Data corruption: If you encounter data corruption problems, the problem related with the hard disk firmware. Visit nVidia website To update to the latest nVidia chipset drivers, so you can solve the problem. Due to a number of different versions, you must be familiar with the motherboard's specifications.
Not detected: If at startup, nForce3 or nForce4 host controller is not detected Maxtor SATA-II hard drive.
This is not to hard to connect to non-nForce3 or nForce4 controller (such as SIIG (Silicon Image), HighPoint, Promise etc.) situation. Many have multiple host controller on the motherboard, so you must be familiar with the motherboard specifications and circuit diagram. Firmware update is only for the existence of "undetectable" in the hard disk release, it does not apply to experimental troubleshooting. As the firmware code update feature, the hard disk may not work correctly, so, be sure to back up your data, it is important. Check and reply.

Should not be removable hard disk from the system, you can directly check its current firmware versions, use diagnostic test in select hard drive, hard drive model, serial number and firmware version is displayed in the upper right corner. Please contact Seagate Support to obtain the firmware update to address the Maxtor SATA II hard drives of this issue. Please have the hard drive serial number and code number, they are listed in the top label on the hard disk itself. All the best.
