Well the decision of the graphic card totally depends on your needs, likes and dislikes. However you have not mentioned it here. But i also personally think that you should go for the ATI HD 4850 512MB graphic card as compared to the other one. Some features of the ATI HD 4850 512MB graphic card are very new and better than the Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 graphic card.

There is not much difference in the configuration and the performance of this two graphic cards in overall means. But if you are looking for the hardcore gaming then i will suggest you to go for the ATI HD 4850 512MB graphic card because i am also using one of the ATI graphic card in my system and it is way ahead compared to the Nvidia.

You want to crossfire the graphic card which you will be installing in your desktop computer system for the gaming purpose any to get more performance out of your graphic card. I think the ATI graphic cards are best for the crossfire as compared to the Nvidia. So according to me you should go with the ATI HD 4850 512MB graphic card.
