Re: Unknown PCI device error after installing HIS HD 3850

I think the HIS HD 3850 card which you have installed is not faulty and hence the system is giving the Unknown PCI device error. Remove the HD 3850 from the computer and then see if the system still gives the same error. If the system does not give the same error then shut down the computer and connect the card again in the slot properly. And then see if the system gives the same error or not. If the card is inserted properly then the system should not give the same error. If the system gives the same error then get the card checked by some technician as it may be faulty.

Re: Unknown PCI device error after installing HIS HD 3850

It is possible that the motherboard of your computer is not supporting the graphic card and hence it is giving the error. The card which you have added to the computer is based on latest technology hence it would have better communication rate which may not be compatible with the old motherboard which you are using. Therefore first check if your motherboard supports the graphic card and then try to debug the problem. If the motherboard does not supports the card then there is only one solution to solve the problem and that is to upgrade the motherboard of the computer.

Re: Unknown PCI device error after installing HIS HD 3850

Have you installed the drivers for HD 3850 card? Every component that is connected to the computer needs drivers to be installed. Drivers act as a mediator between the operating system and the device. If the drivers for a device are not installed then the device will not function properly. Some times the operating system does not detects the device connected and hence cannot install the drivers automatically. If this happens then the user has to install the drivers manually. Install all the drivers and software's which are provided with the graphic card and then see if the system gives the same error or not.

Re: Unknown PCI device error after installing HIS HD 3850

The error which I am getting is provided in my 1st post. After installing the card the system gives Unknown PCI device Found error but does not show or install the device which is found. Therefore I am not sure what is causing the problem.

Re: Unknown PCI device error after installing HIS HD 3850

I was facing the same problem when I installed HD 3870 on my computer. The card comes with an HDMI audio extension whose driver has to be installed separately and are not provided with the card. You will have to download and install the drivers for the HDMI audio from the official AMD site for the series of the graphic card which you are using. Once the Drivers are installed on the computer it will not give the same error again. Hope the post helps.
