Laptop LCD Screen is bright white or grey.. !?!

I am having an Inspiron 1100 LCD Screen. When I turned on the LCD, the entire screen was bright white (like Grey). I have adjusted the brightness still the same thing is appearing. I don't want to use the external monitor. I am not having much knowledge about the LCD's. Please help me to sort this problem. Thanks in Advance..

I think that this is happening because of the inverter present in your LCD. I was having the same issue in my HP laptop and I changed the inverter which make it to work properly again. If you don't have an idea to change, then give it to service center and tell them to change the inverter. Changing inverter will definitely help to sort your issue..

If your laptop is in warranty, then don't try to change the inverter by yourself (recommended even it is not in warranty). Because if you try to replace the inverter there are much chances of defecting the other minute particles present in the monitor. It will be better to give it at service center before doing any trial methods.

Start your laptop in the safe mode. You can go in the safe mode by pressing the F8 at the startup. Check that display is working properly in the safe mode.! Those are the default WIN Video drivers loaded. Even that is not working then try to do the following things :

1. Run device manager (Click Start, CLick Run and type devmgmt.msc) and hit ENTER.
2. Double Click Display Adapter in the RT side, highlight yours, and hit DEL.
3. Exit and reboot.
