    RV790 vs RV770 GPU

    hi
am looking to buy new graphics card with better where i found code-named ATI RV790 graphics processing unit is good for gpu processor but i heard that ATI RV770 chip with higher clock-speeds is already on the way is that both made significance difference?

    Re: RV790 vs RV770 GPU

evolution of the Radeon HD4830 the RV740 with which we already mentioned here RV790 and RV740, the next steps of ATI coupled with the GDDR5 and a changing Radeon HD4870 / HD4830. It seems unthinkable that AMD does not seek to regain the crown that NVIDIA comes to oust. It would be logical with a GTX285, Pardons, a HD4970 with increased frequency compared to those of 4870. where recently added with AMD Radeon HD 5770 and 5750 RV790 is better ...

    Re: RV790 vs RV770 GPU

Since the RV790 and Juniper version Radeon HD 4890 and HD 5770 show a number of processing units and computing power are identical and therefore no different than their memory and bus bandwidth allows it, i clocked the memory of the Radeon HD 4890 600 MHz so it has a bandwidth similar to that of the Radeon HD 5770. This allows one hand to observe Juniper and RV790 in identical conditions (at least as much as possible) and secondly to highlight the performance gain brought by more memory bandwidth.

    Re: RV790 vs RV770 GPU

Another interesting point learn that a feature in most maps R700 is absent in RV770. On most chips it is possible to perform a burst read memory (reading data from 16 consecutive) and place them in the registers of the card, but this function is absent in RV770 cards. For cons the new Radeon HD 4890 (based on the RV790) has this function, like all other cards in the series. In practice, this function does not seem especially used in 3D and appears rather interesting for GPGPU applications.
