ATI 4850x2 2gb posibly wrong memory report

    Hi guys.

I've been assembling a PC for gaming with Saphire ATI 4850x2 2Gb GDDR3, but my problem is this. when I go to desktop properties, go advanced tab, then settings, adapter it shows me 1024 MB of video memory available, this card is a 2GB (2x1GB) version, not 1GB. I hope you know what I mean. this is a screenshoot. " http://ociq.net/ati/desktop.jpg "
I found it on the net (I could not upload mine) it's the same thing, same data, I think instead of 1024 Mb, should write 2048Mb, so basicly this is my question should it write or not. Catalyst 9.7

The rest of configuration is as folow:

    ASUS P6TD DELUXE
G-SKILL 3*2GB (IN THE COMPATIBILITY LIST OF THE MOTHERBOARD)
    INTEL I7 920 CPU
    THERMALTAKE 750W POWER SUPLY
case from antec, and raptor 300GB

    Hope someone will answer soon.
    if posible with screenshoot.
    Thanks in advance

if you are using XP then you will not get 2GB GPU (like a 4850x2 2gb), because XP cant recognize more than 4gigs of memory, and that is INCLUDING your video ram. So you will end up seeing 2gb of ram and 2gbs video memory...

I think you should use the cards in different slots in your motherboard. Then go to your device manager and the try to remove the video cards, and remove the driver package/uninstall drivers. Afterwards you need to reboot, with installed cards. Then you need to make sure catalyst a.i. is enabled and gpu-z reports 3 gpus is alos enabled.

Re: ATI 4850x2 2gb posibly wrong memory report

I'm using a single card with 2 graphic gpu's on-board. each one has 1gb of memory allocated, so there is a total of 2gb (you can see it here "http://www1.sapphiretech.com/us/products/products_overview.php?gpid=265)
but as you can see in my last post it shows me only 1gb memory, not 2, I'm asking again should write there a 1024mb, or 2048mb video memory size. I have try this with xp32, xp64, vista32. All the same. so could someone if posible send me a screenshot.

the 2 gb framebuffer is 1 gb for each core. therefore, it shows up as 1 gb in your computer. read any review online.
btw, i have a 4870x2, 2gb ddr5 sapphire. it too shows up as 1 gb, which is normal.

Thanks all for your answers, and your time. I get the same answer from saphire.
If' it's for me I would't bother of that, I'm building a comp for a customer, and needed this to confirm that. Thanks again.

Lezdur could you, if not a problem upload a screenshot.

    there you go!

    http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/7619/videomemory.jpg

your pic is on the left for comparision. mine is on the right.

im running vista ultimate 64 bit, therefore my comp reads all my RAM and graphics memory.
    I got 4 gb corsair dominator C5DF.

if you see the dedicated video memory, thats your answer.
