Difference between Vga and svga

I am very much confused about what is vga and svga i have tried a lot to find it over internet but was not able to get any proper information about it. Can anyone provide me some information about vga and svga. Thanks in Advance.

VGA is referred to as an "array" instead of an "adapter" because it was implemented from the start as a single chip (an ASIC), VGA uses analog signals rather than digital signals. Consequently, a monitor designed for one of the older standards will not be able to use VGA. VGA input that is an analog RGB connection that will work with square pixel. VGA supports 512 simultaneous characters on screen by disabling one color bit. The glyphs on 80×25 mode are normally made of 9×16 pixels. Users may define their own character set by loading a custom font onto the card.A VGA monitor (video graphics array) typically displays pictures in 640 x 480 pixels, or an even smaller 320 x 200 pixels.

When using SVGA as a direct comparison to other display standards such as XGA (Extended Graphics Array) or VGA (Video Graphics Array) the standard resolution referred to as SVGA is 800*600 pixels.Although the number of colours was defined in the original specification, this soon became irrelevant as (in contrast to the old CGA and EGA standards) the interface between the video card and the VGA or Super VGA monitor uses simple analog voltages to indicate the desired colour depth.So although SVGA is a widely used term, it has no specific definition in terms of resolution or bit depth. In general use, SVGA is used to describe a display capability generally somewhere between 800x600 pixels and 1024x768 pixels at color depths ranging from 8 bits (256 colors) to 16 bits (65,536 colors).
