| New computer crashes and restarts when playing games
I have just got a new PC which was assembled for me with the following specs: Windows XP Gainward Nvidia GeForce 285GTX 1GB (driver 186.18) Intel 2.5GHz Quad Core 4GB RAM Asus P5QC motherboard Energon EPS-750W PSU Sound Blaster Audigy SE My problem is that when I try to play a game like Call of Duty - World at War, World in Conflict or Empire Total War, my PC automatically restarts after a few seconds or minutes. I am thinking the problem might be the GeForce 285GTX - maybe I have a faulty card? Or perhaps it could be something else. Can someone help as I am becoming desperate and don't know what to do! Thanks. |

if that only happening while playing game then it can be related to GeForce 285GTX but also check for cpu and gpu temperature as in most of the such problem reason is temperature. so try good cooler for it, |

According to my best of knowledge it seems to be that you are having bad video drivers on your system. It might be also that you might have a bad GPU on your system. |

| Re: New computer crashes and restarts when playing games
Use GPUZ AND CPUZ software which is used for Overclocking with this you can check temperature of cpu and gpu. for Nvidia GeForce 285 GTX temperature started form 47 ° C at rest and rises to 85 ° C. for cpu its Temperature: 50-95°F |

| Re: New computer crashes and restarts when playing games
I am starting to think that the problem is either with my PSU or the electricity back at my home. I took the PC to a technician and everything worked fine while playing games and the PC didn't restart one time! As soon as I got it back home and tried to play a game the PC restarted again every time. However if it was the PSU it would have restarted at the technician's as well...so what can it be? The electricity? |

| Re: New computer crashes and restarts when playing games
Yes it can be because of unstable electricity. May be you need a voltage stabilizer . But before going for that first confirm that its because of unstable electricity only. You can consult some electrician to check your home electricity. |

My voltage is 214V right now...and sometimes it goes up to 244V. I am on AC. Is 214V enough? I think it should be 230-240V. I was thinking of buying this one: http://www.gemalta.com/ds/84_6004.htm |

I replaced my PSU today with an 850W Corsair TX Series. All my problems seem to be solved and the PC is not restarting anymore when I play games. I was becoming quite desperate to find a solution! Thanks to all the people who tried to help me in this thread. |
