No sound on HDTV

Hi,

I connected my Vizio HDTV via HDMI cable to my LCD TV. The video is fine, but the sound comes only through my pc. I am able to get sound using headphones on the computer just not through the tv. The tv sound works because when watching tv it plays sound only through using the pc I get no sound on HDTV. Can anyone help what should I do? I tried to read the help on my pc, and it says that I can manage it in the Nvidia settings somewhere, but i cannot find any audio options there. Does anyone have an idea what might be a problem here?

What's the new computer brand/motherboard? Ensure both primary and secondary display are enabled in display properties and are set to respective resolution. Chances are if the amp is that old it is speaker level inputs meaning it draws its signal from an existing speaker hooked up to a receiver. Also check whether codec is properly installed, that might be causing no sound on your HDTV.

If you are using RBG, then you still have to connect your audio lines. Maybe you got the Reds reversed on one end. The Red/Yellow jacks may only work when you are using the AV channel. Change the connectors around and change the source from AV3 to Component.

No sound on HDTV problem you can solve with a small reset button, Check your video configuration on LCD TV and try to change settings between just scan it or you can try reset, to reset with a reset button, disconnect devices and unplug the TV. Depress the reset button for 5 seconds. Reconnect devices, then plug in the TV. That would probably cause your symptions.

Right-click the Volume icon near the clock on your screen and set the default audio output to HDMI. Select the audio out as HDMI out in your sound settings in control panel if the 8600GT has a sound processor on board, otherwise you will have to use RCA cables, some of the NEWER video cards that have HDMI ports built in have internal connectors that you can run your audio from your sound card to the video card.
