Exclamation Video card Compatiblity with Monitor

hey guys, I'm not much of a techy... i know a little bit... I can change ram and thats about my biggest achievement rofl. I want to buy this gaming computer from Newegg.com. I noticed while looking at other computers though, one reviewer said that he couldnt get his old monitor to work with his new computer and he messed around with it and hooked it up to a HD monitor and had to change the resolution down on the graphics card and his old monitor worked.

    now the question is:
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT is the graphics card that it says it comes with, will that video card require an HD monitor? my current monitor is really old... like 3 years old... I bought an Emachines Desktop that costed me $650 that it came with. Its not a flat screen, nor does it look anything special. Here is the link to the computer specs from Newegg.com

this is the only monitor I own and I really need to know before i order this computer, whether or not this thing will be compatible with my old POS. I already have the adapter for the part that plugs into the graphics card. I r very desperate! i r going through WoW withdrawls... lol.. Thanks in advance

the monitor went up to 1024x768 ( thats as high as it will let me put it on my pos desktop )

Re: Video card Compatiblity with Monitor

This card have DisplayPort and Dual-Link DVI-I monitor attachment support 2560 x 1600 maximum resolution

    Monitor Compatibility

    DisplayPort Connector:

    • Monitors that offer DisplayPort
    • Digital (DVI-D) monitors attach via a DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI-D Monitor Cable (DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI-D Monitor Cable is available as an option part number: 45J7915)

    Dual-Link DVI-I Connector:
    • Monitors that offer Digital (DVI-D)
    • Analog (VGA) attach via the DVI-VGA monitor adapter

so for your old monitor DVI-VGA monitor adapter is required .

so as LONG as i get this piece, my monitor WILL work with this video card? this piece is for the pins in the tail of the monitor that hooks into the computer right? i already have one of those. i just wanna know if the monitor is gonna be a piece of crap and not work because the graphics card boots on too high of a resolution. will that be a problem?

[edit] whoa wait, i put in DVI-VGA monitor adapter in at Newegg.com and it came up with this

as the cheapest thing, do i need that part?

or do i just need this part

As per your issue i would recommend you to go with SYBA SD-DVI-VGA DVI Female connector and hope your problem would get solved.
