GDDR4-ram was never the breakthrough which producers had hoped, since the first was born in a few versions of ATIS former royal card X1950XTX. Nvidia has not been standard, and delivers all their cards ever with the cheaper GDDR3-RAM, while ATI dropped the use of GDDR4 with the introduction of the 4000 series. Instead, use the red now GDDR5 to GDDR3 King short and to the slower models.
But now reviving Sapphire standard, at least for a while, with their specially adapted version of the ATIS HD4670. The map based on the RV730 core, has 320 shaders and a 128-bit . The standard 512MB GDDR3-RAM has been replaced by the same amount of GDDR4 RAM, which gives a frame-rate of 2200MHz effective. It is 200MHz more than the standard edition.
Sapphire has also added their own special cooler for HD4670, But it works perfectly where the temperature 10 degrees Celsius under load compared to the standard model, which is measured to just 66 degrees. The sound level is the same for both coolers.
The 10 percent faster memory also gives a small performance shop compared to the standard model, but not more than a few fps in the tested games. Improvements in the 4-10 percent observed in most games in general solutions as 1280 x 1024 and 1680 x 1050, both with and without anti-aliasing. The card has an innovation price due to improvements in RAM and cooler, and because the card has both VGA, HDMI and DVI output.
So if you're interested in a decent graphics card for a cheap money that has plenty of video outputs, then Sapphire HD4670 512MB GDDR4 maybe something for you. A commonly-HD4670 with GDDR3 RAM running Crysis satisfactory at 1024 x 768 pixels at High settings with DirectX10, so Sapphire cards should therefore have enough horsepower to run the new games well.
Between the GDDR3 and GDDR4 of the frequencies can easily be higher on the GDDR4 which multiplies the bandwidth and, in theory, and therefore more efficient. For me, the chosen DDR3 ATI is excellent, the RAM (GDDR3) for my card (HD 2900 PRO) pass quietly from 800 Mhz to 1140 Mhz (I have not even tried because its more useless), but it can climb to over 1200 Mhz Vstock.
And indeed, the timing DDR3 is better.
