There will be no problem on switching to Windows Vista, but it is very buggy, instead switch to Windows 7. For more Help and Details on Windows 7 see this : How to Install Windows 7 RC ?

5 year old games, like Quake 4, do not really test the performance of that card. You do not need to overclock that card in anyway. That is like considering putting a Cheetah on anabolic steroids because it can only run 120 mph. You do not need a Cheetah that can run 400 mph.

Also, just because the motherboard manufacturer says only 2 GB will go on the board does not mean its true. There is a pretty good chance that 4 GB will work in it, but that when the board was designed the engineers did not believe that modules above 1 GB would ever be manufactured.

For example: I've had ASUS boards that the ASUS site said could only see 1 GB, that used 2 GB with no problems. So, get two 2 GB modules and try it. Either it will work or it won't. Its not going to damage the board.
