| Long VGA cable Reduces resolution?
Hello I would like a monitor and TV using my media center. I currently have a PC with a tuner and monitor and a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT. There are two screens on my video card, the one I want to leave my desk. The other at a table. And that I use as TV. the point is, there are VGA cables of more than 5 meters? And if that reduces the quality or resolution? |

It has to do with frequencies. A VGA cable can MHz for an X amount. The longer the cable, the less MHz over the cable with no interference can occur, this is primarily on voice and see you as ghosting. It might just be that your 15 meter cable good idea to have 800x600x60hz, but if you take a higher resolution or a higher refresh rate, the bandwidth of the signal has also increased and therefore the quality down. In short: The longer the cable, the lower the resolution / refresh rate that he can trouble-free transport. For larger distances, I recommend any good quality cable. Costs more, but then the chance of lower quality. |

There is no absolute length for VGA cables.. it depends on signal bandwidth (resolution and refresh rate), cable type, strength of signal (some video cards seem to put out stronger, cleaner signals), and acceptable quality loss. You should be ok with 7-8 meters, but youre flirting with danger. |

I've heard that about 10 metres is the longest you should try to run VGA without using booster amps. |
