Nvidia 285GTX beats all single gpu ati cards?

Hey people i just saw many sites and performance charts for stalker,COD:WAW and crysis and nvidia 285 GTX takes the lead in performance against all single ati radeon card damn even radeon 4870 (1 GB) has lost against this 285 GTX(1GB) so i guess nvidia is still in lead even though they dont hav DDR5 but how can DDR3 beat DDR5 card that also in performance well u can say i am an nvidia fan but i am not saying ati sucks so dont take me wrong i am just saying watever i saw in the sites but nvidia are damn costly thats for sure but they are worth it i guess right?

The GTX 285 is certainly faster than the GTX 280 it replaces, and even trumps ATI’s fastest single-chip offering the Radeon HD 4870 for pure speed - if not on price. But fast as it may be, when compared to a higher performing Radeon HD 4870 X2 that can be had for just £295, it’s hard to recommend. Having said that, where multi-GPU scaling is done well, the Radeon HD 4870 X2 easily leaves the GTX 285 far behind. But when a game doesn't utilise multiple GPUs effectively, the gap between the two is very close. If you’re dead set on nVidia, you may as well go the whole hog and get a GTX 295 – budget and PSU permitting of course! The GTX 285 may be the fastest single-chip card in nVidia’s current line-up, but until the California-based company gets more competitive on its pricing, ATI beats it in the performance/value stakes.

nooo way i am gonna buy 295 gtx its too much man i think i will go for 285 gtx and it seems 285 has better price value than 295 gtx and look at the huge power supply difference u need atleast 550W for 285 and for 295 u need 640 w thats nuts man who wants to buy every part by part just for a graphic card it will cost more than 500$ especially with nvidia cards i dont want to waste my money soo much but its really hard to choose the right graphic card by price and performance u will hav to sacrifice something if u want performance forget the price but if care about price forget about performance its like that and my cpu like has only one pci-e x16 slot so i can only put one card so i wanted to choose between ati radeon 4870HD(1GB) or Nvidia Geforce 285 GTX(1 GB) but i dont know wat to choose but according to performance i like 285 GTX but for price i like Ati Radeon 4870HD wat to do

Go for Ati Radeon 4870x2 1GB. Theres a miniscule difference, but given the cost of 4870 1GB, and the cost of a 4870x2, I think that the slight difference warrants buying the single-card 4870x2. Also realistically, the 4870x2 is faster than a single GTX 285 across the board. For gaming and benchmarking, the X2 will win over the GTX 285 every time. I say the 4870x2 is much stronger than the 285. In my opinion, the 285 is like an overclocked 280 with a dieshrink.

4870x2 is faster than GTX 285 in average, especially with the latest Car 9.1. But there are some things that has to be mentioned:
    • GTX 285 overclocks much better and an overclocked GTX 285 will offer better performance than an overclocked 4870X2.

    • GTX 285 has better drivers support

    • If you add another GTX 285 latter, you'll have higher performance across the board compared to if you add another 4870X2.

    • GTX 285 operates at lower temperature and consumes significantly less energy.

Atleast you need a 600 Watts + PSU for the smooth running of the 4870 x2 graphic card and yes for lets say 2-3 years you wouldnt need to upgrade your card for the upcoming games for sure or perhaps, due to the growing technology, would require but who knows

You're safe. That card blows her own hot air to the outside of the case.

Unless it's a non-reference design might not do that.

It runs fine, 20C room temp on a warmish night, 35% fan speed and 56C gpu temp at idle. Usually slightly lower though, crank it up to 40% for games and i've never had heat problems
