How to change monitor type?

hi friends.

I am using a Viewsonic GT775. But when I check the type of the monitor in my monitor option under display properties, it shows "default monitor".
How do I change the monitor type?

Follow the steps to change the monitor type:
First, Download and uncompress your monitor's inf file from your manufacturer's home page.

• Click Start.
• Click Control Panel.
• Double click System.
• Click the Hardware tab.
• Click Device Manager.
• Double click Monitors.
• Right click Your Monitor.
• Click Properties.
• Click the Driver tab.
• Click Update Driver.
• Click Next.
• Click Install From A List Of Specific Location.
• Click Next.
• Click Don't Search I Will Choose The Driver To Install.
• Click Next.
• Click Have Disk.
• Click Browse and select the Driver.
• Click Open.

If your Viewsonic monitor was tested by microsoft and in XP's database, then XP would automatically configure your monitor.

If not, leave it as a default monitor. Go to viewsonics site and choose the unsupported .inf download and save to the directory where you had installed the .inf file. Ignore windows warning >> Install.

Instructions to change the "default monitor type".

Try right clicking on the desktop
Select Properties >> Select the Settings Tab >> Click the Advanced button >> Select monitor from the list >> Select the monitor you want to update/replace >> Click on Properties >> Go to driver's tab >> Click on UPDATE DRIVER

The same procedure is possible from the Device Manager.
find Monitor >> Double click the monitor you want to replace >> select driver's tab >> update driver.
