unsure How to check graphic card memory in Windows XP?

Hi, I have Windows XP and i don't know what and how much graphics card my computer vendor has put in my computer. i want to know wht is my graphics memory before purchasing any game, so that i would be able to know whether i need any upgradation of my graphics card. Is there any way to see how much is my graphics memory from within the Windows XP operating system? Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah its possible and its quite easy. Follow the below steps:

    • Right click anywhere on an empty space on the desktop then click properties.
    • Now click on the Settings Tab and Click the Advanced button.
    • Now click on the Adaptor Tab.
    • There you will see Memory Size : xxxMB. [ See the Screen Shot Below]
    • That is your Graphics Memory.

    All the best!

The most easiest way is to run "dxdiag" command in the run dialog box which can be accessed from within the start menu. then a dialog box appears askin to check the system properties, click yes to it. DirectX Diagnostic program will be opened. now click on the display tab and you will see "Approx. Total Memory". More simple!

Well, if you need a graphics card for viewing 1080p HD videos then I would recommend you to go with the ATI Radeon HD 4000 Graphics Family graphics card. Since it is a PCIE card, you will need a motherboard that has pcie support. What is the computer specifications you are having? Normally, you dont require high computer builds to play 1080p HD videos, with all the latest software update and graphics driver, you can easily view it.

Re: How to check graphic card memory in Windows XP?

Well, to be honest the Minimum Requirements for Running 1080p on are pretty high, with a standard Codec is given below.
    • Processor: 2.4Ghz (dual core) or 3.5Ghz (single Core) processor.
    • Graphics: Nvidia/ATi having bare minimum 256MB Video RAM and core clock 600Mhz.

When you try to play it in a lower config PC, the video plays but is often jerky. You will be able to play videos on 733 mhz intel processor but it will be pixelated and very laggy or maybe wont even play.
