l had Radeon Hd4830 is more or less equal to the Nvidia 9800 GT .. is a face-high average cost quite content with a good deal if you do not want the best but we still want to enjoy any 3D application without too many restrictions ...
But with the Hd4870 go up in price but had a high-end and the differences you notice a lot to me ... but then of course the choice depends on the use it if ...

    Hi,
I can provide you some information related to new Radeon HD 4870 X2 and here is as follows:

The new Radeon HD 4870 X2 has the same features as the Radeon HD 4870 except it has two 4870 GPUs which doubles its performance. The Radeon HD 4870 X2 offers Microsoft DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 support and both support ATI’s CrossFireX multi-GPU technology. Both the new graphics cards, 4850 X2 and 4870 X2 feature two GPU’s on a 625Mhz and 750MHz bus respectively, with up to 2GB of 900MHz GDDR5 (GDDR3 for 4850 X2) frame buffer memory (RAM).

The higher-end 4870 X2 is rated at 2.4TFLOPs and has a memory bandwidth of230GB/second, while the 4850 X2 is rated at 2.0TFLOPs and communicates with memory at 128GB/sec.At the maximum performance the ATI HD 4870 X2 requires 270 watts and the 4850 X2 requires 230 watts power.

    And for 4830
AMD has launched its ATI Radeon HD 4830 graphics card, featuring low cost Microsoft DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 2.1 support platform. It’s features are:

It would also be worth to mention that the X2 cards desn't actually use more memory then the normal cards.

The 1gb versions have 512mb to each GBU, so with todays games like GTAIV i would certainly recommend the 2gb versions.

It would seam that both the 4850 x2 and 4870 x2 should be able to handle the latest games, with maxed out, or near max grapichs settings.

In case of games like GTAIV, the port simply seams to be badly optimized, the biggest bottelneck seams to be the cpu.
