Gigabyte announced this week the release of a new graphics card based on the AMD RV770. The GV-R487D5-1GD, already on the Web last few weeks, is as a Radeon HD 4870 and customized by Gigabyte with 1 GB of memory GDDR5 clocked at 900 MHz, 750 MHz against the GPU. Decorated with a blue PCB, a cooling device Zalman signed, the GV-R487D5-1GD distinguishes itself by integrating a DisplayPort output format, along with DVI and HDMI connectors.
Validated as a standard in January, the DisplayPort interface is a direct competitor of HDMI, found now increasingly on televisions, monitors and graphics cards. In contrast to the HDMI, whose use is subject to license, DisplayPort is free, and raises the interest of different stakeholders, who see it as a good way to develop without much expense practices related to high definition.
