    1600x1050 Screen Resolution

I'm trying to configure an HP w 22 widescreen monitor with 1600x1050 resolution. The Screen Resolution tool have maximum of 1024x768. Is there a possibility to run my widescreen display (1600x1050 pixel) with its native resolution under Windows XP? How can I configure that? Does nay body knows about it? Kindly provide me the correct information on the above issue. Any kind of information on the above issue would be appreciated.

Most graphics card drivers also give you the option to use 1:1 pixel mapping, where it displays the image at exactly 1680x1050 pixels, but leaves a black border all the way around the 1920x1200 screen. ATI and also Nvidia drivers hide widescreen resolutions until they detect a widescreen capable display. If the driver recognizes your monitor then it will list the 1680x1050 automatically.

It will require a BIOS update to get the resolution you want, VIA is working on several upgrades for the Epia series, but unknown when they will be available. It is all matter of personal preference. I prefer the higher resolution, and use DPI settings to make fonts easier to read. The 1600x1050 is good for games.

    Re: 1600x1050 Screen Resolution

The display can provide named modes through the DPMS mechanism that I see you have enabled and maybe it is providing "1680x1050" that way. But 24" monitor with 1920x1200 resolution can scale down to display 1680x1050. Other named modes are built into the display adapter and/or the display driver and/or the X-windows system. Clearly none of those are "1600x1050". It will look a bit pixilated though, because when trying to fill a 1920x1200 screen with just 1680x1050 pixels, the video card has to stretch the image.
