graphics card problem with vista

I recently bought my desktop pc with vista sp1. The problem is my graphics card when I install the driver CD or download a driver on the Internet and after installation and then restarting, vista starts with an finally loading bar page and then nothing happens, the pc still runs but nothing happens, the screen stays black.

Here is my setup:
Motherboard: Gigabyte EP-45-DS3R
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
graphics card: GeGorce PNY XLR8 OC 9600 GT 513 MB GDDR3
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F1 750 GB SATA 32 MB

What should I do?

Are you using Vista 32-bit or x64?
It may be a problem using a 32 bit version driver under a 64 bit Vista.

Well, am using Vista 32 bits and I have tried to download the drivers from the nvidia site but yet it still doesnt work. What should I do. Thanks for the response.

This kind of problem can be caused by the resolution or frequency of the screen that you are using. Try to change the resolution and see if it works or test that graphics card in some other computer to see if the card isn't faulty.

I think that I have solved the problem. My screen has two output a VGA and DVI-D. Initially it was on the DVI-D and then I changed and put on the VGA, I install the driver then restarted and for now it works. Thank you for your help anyways.
