computer screen no longer works in 800*600

Hello,
Here is my problem comes from my screen resolution 800 * 600 does not work anymore. I presume it's a hardware problem because when I start a game mode 800 * 600 screen becomes completely blurred even worse than it's becoming a bit like channel decoder without + ^ ^.
I took a screenshot and then I returned to my office which is 1280 * 1024, then the screen returns to normal and I look at the screenshot I took the picture and is therefore nickel screen problem certainly.
I was wondering if:
1. software could cause this kind of problem.
2. The screen is not compatible for this resolution.

There seem to be tons of utilities around that let you change screen resolution, and everyone has its own favorite, i for that matter must say QRes does its job very well, same as yours it doesn't let you change resolutions that are not supported by your adapter/monitor...
So maybe for the sake of personal preferences, it could be usefull if a rightclick shell Add-on could be developed, that lets you manual specify 1, but preferable 2 custom commands.

You set in the registry values which are appropriate for your monitor. Only you know what they should be. The values in the registry correspond exactly to the values on the command line i.e. h=horizontal, v=vertical, b=bit depth, f=frequency. My example set h = 1280, v = 1024, b = 32, f = 85.
