Can I connect TV to display Port?

Hi
I have an Acer aspire 5002,512 RAM ,60 GB HD, xp pro, on the back of the laptop I have an external display port, it says i can connect a monitor and LCD projector to it.
Can i connect it up to the television or is it just for LCD projector/Monitors?

In your Acer aspire 5002 you have 3 USB ports, 1 type II PCMCIA slot, 1 VGA connector for an external monitor, 1 phone jack, 1 Ethernet jack, Line-in, Mic-in, Stereo-out.
So if you want to connect TV then your TV sholud have a VGA connector. Good luck

If it has two rows of small holes in it, it is a video output for a monitor not for a TV. Few machines support the composite signal required for a TV, though some offer SVideo and Divx, if you have suitable ports. SVideo looks like an older mouse port, and Divx looks like an older printer port with a rectangular hole amidst the pins. You would need an appropriate cable for these, and a TV capable of accepting these inputs. Good luck
