TFT stands for "Thin Film Technology". TFT is an advanced type of LCD monitor. With TFT power consumption is still lesser and image can be screen on the screen from even 180 degrees.

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) is a variation of LCD technology known as active matrix (where LCD is passive), so one could say they're roughly the same thing. TFT is superior in both resolution, colour reproduction, response times and viewing angles over standard LCD and has become de rigueur within the market.

Go for TFT. The initial slight savings you might make in buying passive LCD would lead to a false economy in the long run, as TFT's are much cheaper than they used to be.

Yes, TFT LCDs have a wider viewing angle and better picture. By the way the only other back-lightning technology I know of is using LEDs, which is much more expensive but very bright.
