Since October 2006, with the acquisition of ATI, AMD Project Fusion is widely desired since no new concrete has been given by the smelter, which leaves room for any kind of conjectures. The latest comes from TGDaily site, which would take its information from industrial sources close to AMD: Project Fusion should be materialized by a bullet while the first one named "Shrike", which meet in a single envelope an processor dual-core Phenom type and a graphics processor type DirectX 10.1, whose code name is RV800. The production of this package would be the Taiwanese firm TSMC, which would use its lines of engraving to 40 nanometers, inaugurated last March.
Particularly ambitious Project Fusion aims to bring together for memory and CPU graphics processor, in order to improve performance, reduce power consumption but also offer on the market a chip to do everything, including the various units would be capable of calculating to adapt to any type of task. So far, AMD has always refused to officially confirm or disprove the hypothesis that these elements would be meeting within a single chip. According to this rumor, it would appear, however, after the integrated memory controller processor, AMD is going to do the same with the graphics processor. The ensemble is the first time in a burned at 40 nanometers, then could move to 32 nanometers by 2010, with the arrival of chips Falcon, based on the core Bulldozer.
