    MS Project 210 Global.mpt file

I am using Project 2010 Pro and administer a number of projects. All projects use the same 'Flags' which are available in my Global.mpt file. However, I have inherited a project file that uses its own customised 'Flags' 1 -5. My problem is that when I open this mpp file its own 'Flags' are replaced by those in my Global.mpt file (along with the formulas for each). Is this behaviour correct? If not what corrective action can I take?

Project local fields should be over-written by any fields from your Global. So, what you should see is the inherited file should retain its own formulas.

What are your settings in File > Options, Advanced, Display for adding custom fields to Global?

Thanks for the reply. The box is 'ticked' so that all new views, tables etc are automatically added to the global. Should it be? I want my inherited file to retain its own formulas for flags 1 - 5 not adopt the ones in the global.

It was a typing mistake in my earlier post: It should be:

Project local fields should NOT be over-written by any fields from your Global. So, what you should see is the inherited file should retain its own formulas.

I have the box unchecked as I don't want customizations from one file to automatically be uploaded.

If I need custom fields, tables, or views -- I create my own template and leave the Global.mpt file free of all customizations.
