    MS Project Resource Loading

Need to confirm an issue. I was starting to use MS Project, and someone told me you have to have a dollar rate entered into MS Project inorder to calculate the hours.

I know others have used MS Project for resource loading at individual functions or people, but never asked me for a dollar rate per hour. I was on the costing side supporting schedules.

Please let me know if MS Project requires a dollar rate for calculating the hours.

    thanks

    Re: MS Project Resource Loading

No, Project does not require standard resource rates to calculate work. Work is calculated by Project by Duration * assignment units.

Perhaps the confusion was surrounding the calculation of Earned Value data. That does require a resource standard rate for calculation of BCWS, BCWP, ACWP.

    I hope this helps.
