    incorrect duration calculation

    Hey Everyone,

So I've noticed this seems to be a reoccurring problem, but I have NO idea what's going on with my schedule. For some reason project is calculating the duration for longer than it should be. See the example below.

    2.06 days Mon 10/17/11 8:00 AM Tue 10/18/11 2:30 AM
    2.16 days Mon 10/17/11 8:00 AM Tue 10/18/11 3:24 AM

Now I know that it does it based on the start and stop times of the summary line and not the sum of subtasks, which is what you see above. Obviously Monday 8am to tuesday at 3:00am is not 2 days. I have no resources assigned and the calendar is 24 hours so there should be no restraints. Any advice here?

    Thank you.

    Re: incorrect duration calculation

You should have a check with the task duration of the project for sure, assign the time limitation there only, now by default the duration of Standard calendar is 8 hours = 1 day, 5 days = 1 week, and 20 days = 1 month. So if you want to change the duration of 1 month = 30 days, 24hours = 1day set it accordingly. for more information check out the link .

Check Tools > Options, Calendar tab. What are your definitions for "Day"? My guess is that you have a "day" defined as 9 hours. There are 18.50 hours between 08:00 on Monday and 02:30 on Tuesday and 18.5 divided by 9 is 2.05555 or rounded to 2.06 If you truly want to calculated duration based upon a "day" being 24 hours, change the definition of a day to 24 hours and a week to 168 hours.

    I hope this helps.

    Julie
