Printing MPP files to Adobe and then printing on paper

I have finally figured out how to put a legend into the network digram! You print the schedule to Adobe, print the legend to Adobe and then insert the legend as a watermark.

BUT ... when I print it on the plotter, some of the boxes disappear and all that prints is a bunch of link lines. I got an error message about the plotter running out of memory.

Does anyone know how to get around this little snag? I also can't print longer than 90" which is a problem for some of our schedules.

The legend in Project isn't what we need. We have color-coded tasks according to who does them. So we need a legend of our own making.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Mbbackus,

If you are using Project 2007 or 2010 -- see if turning off 3D bars solves the problem with lines not printing.

To the color coding of tasks, you'll need to have created task bars for each of the resources. What shows in Format > Bar Styles is what is printed in the legend.

    The Project mvp website
which is project[dot]mvps[dot]org site (sorry they keep removing URLs here) should have faq #31 and FAQ #33 should help you.

If they remove the paragraph above, just google "project mvps" to find the site.

Thanks, Julie! You always have the answers!
I'm going to have to play with this, because I'm working with the Network Diagram not the Gantt Chart.
I figure I will have to create a new style setting for each box I want in the legend, but I don't know how to remove the current box styles from the legend. The FAQs were for Gantt bars. I will see what the "Set highlight filter style" option does and get back to you.
    Thanks, again!
