Microsoft Project - Duration, Work, Units?

I have an issue with duration and work of tasks. I hope someone can help.

I am a supplier company working with an external client. I need to create a template for projects. Our project should display the waiting time for a supplier to respond, and the time it takes for me to complete tasks. We need this for costing. I have a project with the following tasks:
    Task A – 20 days
    Task B – 15 days
    Task C – 10 days

Each of these tasks starts consequently and has a Resource A assigned to it. Task A only takes 1 hour of my time to complete. However I have to wait the remaining time (20 days minus 1 hour) from a Client to respond and complete Task A. Similar Task B only takes 4 hours of my time and Task C only takes 5 hours, and I have to wait 15 days minus 4 hours for Task B to be completed and 10 days minus 5 hours for Task C to be completed.

I’ve tried to create it by displaying Task A as 1 hour, Task B – 4 hours, Task C – 5 hours, and then use lag time. However it creates such a mess when adapting a template to a particular project.
Please help and advise what I shall do.

What if I separate the tasks into two, like this:
    1. Task A(i) - your task
    2. Task A(ii) - supplier responds

By doing this you can simply identify your tasks and include the 15 + day wait time and as you might be knowing that MS Project allows you to enter time down to minutes, so I don’t think there would be any problem.

Re: Microsoft Project - Duration, Work, Units? Formulas?

Because I have 200 tasks (similar to ones in my previous email) for each project, it is very difficult to minus 3 or X hours each time from the supplier time. Do you think there is a simpler solution or Is there a way to use formulas and how to do that?

When you say you have tried using lag time can you describe exactly what you have done?

If you can't split the tasks I would enter the following for task A:
    • Duration: 1 hour

    For task B:
    • Duration: 4 hours
    • Predecessor: (assuming task A is ID 1): 1FS+20days

    For task C:
    • Duration: 5 hours
    • Predecessor (assuming task B is ID 2): 2FS+15days
