Need Help, Task Start Date wrong

I have created few Tasks in MSP 2007 linked with finish to start. In this Task i manually set date to schedule from, hours per day set to 8 and Working Monday thru Friday. Going in details, the schedule shows Task 1 Duration 4 days, start Wed 6/2/10, Finish Mon 6/7/10 Task 2 Duration 3 days, start Mon 6/7/10, Finish Thu 6/10/10.

Here if you will notice instead of 6/7/10 Task2 should have a Start Date of 6/8/10, right? Any idea what went wrong behind this? Please help me to fix it.

Can you try to turn on the display of time. Just go to Tools > Options, View tab and select a format that shows time as well as date. It might help to figure out what is the issue here. Also you have mentioned that you have the standard setting hours per day of 8. So, did you try to modify the calendar in Tools > Change Working time?

After checking I saw that display of time shows start 8am and finish 8am on the next day for a 1 day duration task. And yeah, I have modified the calendar in Tools > Options, calendar tab to 7:00am to 12:00pm 12:30pm to 3:30pm. When I checked the Start dates then it is still showing on same date as predecessors finish date. I cant say why start time is 8am and finish time is 8am on next day for 1 day task?

The settings you change under Tools > Options > Calendar, for the working week or day affect the way project views your entries in the duration field. If you type in 1 week, Project looks to the setting you've made to define the number of hours (and thus man-hours) that a week contains. Ditto for the working day. The hour from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm is likely non-working. So, you have 18 minutes of working time from 11:42 to 12:00 and 20 minutes of working time from 1:00 pm to 1:20 pm. The calculation is correct.

Check your calendar definitions and if the resources work through the lunch hour, you'll need to change the calendar to reflect different working hours.

    I hope this helps.
