Work and Actual Work in the Resource Usage View

I let Project schedule tasks at a high level, but when tracking what
resources will be working on for a given week, I often go to the Resource
Usage View and manually edit the work assignments to properly reflect what
each resource is working on for a given week. I enter work hours manually at
that point all the way to the expected end of the task (even if it goes
beyond the week we are currently working on). I have noticed that there are
times when the % work complete keeps increasing even when I am entering work
hours for future weeks. When I display the actual work fields, I have noticed
that every time I enter Work, Actual Work gets filled in as well. If I delete
one, it deletes the other.

How can I manually enter the hours that I plan on a resource working on a
task without affecting actual work, and therefore my percent work complete?

This only happens when a task is 100% complete.
Enter soome remaining work (insert the column into the left part) before
editing.

Thank you. I will check this the next time this happens to me. Just one more
question about your comment... when you say 'complete' do you mean % complete
is 100, or % work complete is 100, or should it not matter which one? I know
there have been times when one of these is definitely not 100, but I am not
sure which one to be honest.

Re: Work and Actual Work in the Resource Usage View

I actually had a somewhat-related thing happen to me this morning. While
trying to keep track of work and actual work I had both displayed and
inadvertently entered actual work into a future date (in the resource usage
view) instead of work. Once I did this, there seemed to be no way to get rid
of it... every time I set the actual work to 0 it would reduce work to 0 as
well. Setting the work back to the desired value set the actual work back to
that value as well. Is there any way to remove actual work if it is entered
inadvertently?

Re: Work and Actual Work in the Resource Usage View

Again, your action has put the tasks to complete (whatever measurement)
Once it is known by Project as complete, Work and actual work are paired.
Show the remaining work colum, add some, then you can edit as desired.
