| Multiple Projects on Task Bar
Until recently, when i had multiple Project 2007 files open, each one would appear on my Task Bar as separate windows. A couple days ago, for some reason, ALL projects now show up as one Project 2007 icon on my Task Bar and i have to go to "Window" in the Tool Bar in Project 2007 in order to switch from Project file to Project file. This has also caused the "Alt+Tab" switching feature to not work or allow me to easily flip from project file to project file. Excel 2007 and Word 2007 is not having this problem on my machine, only Project 2007. Is there an option in the Tool Bar that will make Project 2007 show up as multiple instances on my Task Bar again? It appears as though Project decided to cause this problem all on it's own.... |

Hello Will, In Tools > Options, View tab, you've probably disabled (unchecked) the "Windows in Taskbar" option. Check the option and you should be all set. I hope this helps. Julie, Worked like a charm. It must have become unchecked during a flury of Project Updates. I do not specifically remember unchecking it, and i certainly wouldn't uncheck anything if i didn't know what it would do (which is what happened in this case). Anyway, thanks! | Re: Multiple Projects on Task Bar
Oddly, the 'Windows in Taskbar' option does (almost) nothing for me. In Project 2007, it has no effect whatsoever. In Project 2007 SP1, it shows a taskbar button for each window, but all open projects are still shown in a single window. I'm guessing a registry entry is not getting updated when the taskbar option is set cleared but, at any rate, it sure looks like a defect to me. |

Sorry Joel. That is not what I see with that option enabled running Project 2007 SP-1 + IU installed to XP Pro. The "Windows in Task bar" option shows each Project file in its own tab in the task bar. I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along. Hi Julie, Yes, each project has its own tab in the taskbar, but all projects open in a single window on my system - I may try an uninstall/reinstall of Project 2007. I too am running XP Pro will all current updates. Thanks for your comments, Joel |

Wait Joel. Before you re-install you are describing the way Project works -- unlike Word, Project does not show a separate window with toolbars and menus, so commands like Tile Windows from the operating system Task bar do not work the same as you would see in Word. You can still use ALT + Tab to switch between files, but they will all appear in the same Project window. You can tile multiple project windows through Window > Arrange all from within Project. Ahhh... that's too bad. With our multi-monitor setups, I really wish we had separate windows. I've tried stretching the Project window across multiple monitors, then organizing individual projects within that one large window, but it seems pretty hokey. Oh well. Thanks again for your advice. Joel |

Your welcome Joel. Sorry it's not exactly what you wanted to hear. A google groups search in this newsgroup for dual monitors may turn up some more information of use to you. I'm a laptop kind of gal who wanders about a bit so even one monitor is too much.
