Can't open a project 2007 file I created

I have made a project schedule about a week ago under Project 2007 and I have opened it with minor edits over the past couple of days without any problems. Today when I tried to open the file, then I was getting an error message that states "Project cannot recognize this format". I am able to open other project files but not this one? Can anyone tell me how do I open this file properly? Thanks.

Re: Can't open a project 2007 file I created

You can try to open a new blank file and insert the project into it. Incase you can open it, then you can also try the suggestions given below:
  1. First of all you can try to open your problem file (it may help to turn off automatic calculation if the file is reluctant to open).
  2. Afetr that select File/Save As...
  3. Now, you have to save as type: Project Database (*.mpd) then click Save.
  4. After that close the file.
  5. Now, try to re-open it from the .mpd file.
  6. Lastly, you can select File/Save As... and save it as an .mpp file again.

Tried the suggestions to no avail...

Here is a bit more detail on the file I can not open:
Just a task list of approximately 300 tasks, not networked yet, no dates either...just a straight list of tasks (which will be difficult to remember...shame on me)

I did notice something however when I "mouse over" and different project file (in a directory folder). The following data is displayed: Type, Author, Title, Date Modified, Size. However when i mouse over the file I can not open only Type, Date Modified, and Size are displayed...

I have a similar situation but saved after every 5 tasks. After one of these saves (it took 30+ seconds) the file was 1.6 GB+ and then Project had an error and ended. Now the file will not open (too many lines, too large). Is there a way to edit the file outside of Project (2007, saved as 2000-2003) to reduce the size?

I also can't open a MSP 2007 file I created.

Using MSP 2000 at work I can't open the file I created on my laptop using MSP 2007 even though I saved it as 2000-2003 format. There doesn't seem to be a save as '98 version, how would you suggest I open this file?
