A circular reference exists - Error

If a file is created with Project 2007 and the file is saved down to the 2003 file format then there is a problem with the file becoming corrupted no matter which version of the application opens the file and saves the changes. When I am opening the file then an error comes up "A circular reference exists". After opening the file tasks the missing (blank spaces) or the the sequence of the tasks has been changed. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks.

I dont know what you are asking but you can double check the service packs installed to both Project 2007 and Project 2003. You can get SP1 to Project 2007 and also an Infrastructure Update that released recently. The circular reference needs to be fixed in your project file so try to check for links on summary tasks. Also is the issue happening only with one file or all files?

If you want to resolve this problem and check for scheduling conflicts or other errors, recalculate the project by pressing F9. For more information, visit this website - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/169729

I have the exact same issue and you have best identified it. I don't have any solutions yet? I have noticed that it happens only after I change linkages.

    Any ideas?

There is a Project 2007 Infrastructure Update 32-bit package, installation instructions, and deployment strategies that can be found at the Microsoft Download Center. To download this update from the Microsoft Download Center, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...E-7664B8F49D12
