Hello,
Click the "Scroll to Task " button in the Standard tool bar : it's a
yellow-brown finger pointing on a blue bar.

Re: Move gantt chart to current task start date

Hi bmcqueen ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

On the Standard toolbar there's a small icon of a finger pointing on the
Gantt Chart. This is the Scroll to... task (goto) button - try that. Or
Edit/Go To... and fill in an ID or Date.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Thanks for your help. I thought that it would be obvious once it was pointed out to me!

Hi Glen,

Just thought I'd check out your link for the free project tuturials but see that I'd need to join techtrax. Can you comment on the usefulness of techtrax for Project and other Mirosoft product resources?

regards,
Bill

Re: Move gantt chart to current task start date

Hi Bill,

Good question! TechTrax used to be completely free, but the owners decided
that there should be a small contribution for more advanced articles to
defray costs. However, as far as my articles on Project are concerned, the
first 28 are still free to view, as are other earlier articles on other
Microsoft topics (mainly the Office suite of programs). If you select the
Subscribe/Membership button it will take you to the subscription page where
there is the offer of free subscription (which mainly allows your email
address be known to TechTrax so that they can email you the latest articles
as they are published).

I would suggest you get the free subscription first, read through the
contents of several of the different offerings to see if you believe it
would be worth the $3 per month that is requested for full membership.
Unfortunately, the editor has had a multitude of personal traumers in her
family which have recently precluded monthly editions. You can read of her
problems in the editoral to the June edition.

As I wrote them, it's, perhaps, not fair to ask me if the Project articles
are worth reading. I've tried to keep them simple so that even a newcomer
to Project can have a real chance of understanding of how Project should be
made to work. Perhaps someone who has used the articles would provide more
unbiassed comment.

Bill,

As Mike won't sing the praises of his tutorials -- I will. I refer
many to Mike's articles both here in the newsgroups as well as when
I am teaching classes. They are well written and do a wonderful job
of demonstrating key concepts in using MS Project successfully. If
you are unsure of the subscription, read the first 28 articles for
free -- you'll get a wealth of knowledge in just those articles
alone.
