    Map drives across VPN fails

If I create a VPN connection from Vista computer to any of the different destination then the network works fine. But when I am connected, I am able to ping RDP to remote servers accross the pptp tunnel alright but I am not able to map drives? I am able to do this exactly with the same configuation from a Windows XP service pack 2 computer. So it doesnt seems to me a network problem, it is some issues with Vista only. I have already disabled the firewall, disable autotuning, but to no avail. I have also tried mapping to IP address instead of netnios name, giving the credentials using the net use command but I am getting system error 53. Can anyone tell me how do I solve this problem? Thanks

Even I am having the same issue. If I am trying to access shares on Windows 2003 server from Vista then it will timeout and tell me that the network path could not be found (0x80070035). I have also tried disabling the WebClient but now got another error code 0x800704b3 with "The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist, or the network provider is not currently available". Help!!

To work around this issue, manually configure the DNS suffix for the TCP/IPv4 address in the VPN connection. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start and then right-click Network, and then click Properties.
    2. Click Manage network connections.
    3. Right-click the VPN connection that you want to configure, and then click Properties.
    4. In the This connection uses the following items box on the Networking tab, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click Properties.
    5. Click Advanced, and then click the DNS tab.
    6. Specify the DNS suffix for the connection, and then click OK three times.

Thank you very much, the solution that you gave worked for me. I was actually using workgroups instead of a domain but after adding a DNS suffix to VPN connection, it worked for me. Thanks once again.
