Vista How to disable welcome screen and fast user switching?

I was using Windows XP with Classic Logon Window before upgrading the system to Windows Vista. I want the same on windows vista as well in order to disable welcome screen and fast user switching. So far I have tried several things from my self as well as by reading articles from web but nothing seems to be working so far.

Can anyone here confirm me if it is possible to get the classic welcome screen on Vista like we use to have on XP? If yes, how to do the same? Many thanks.

Yes, it is possible in Vista as well but you need to do the same through Group Policy Editor. Just go to Start > type "gpedit" and follow this:

Administrative Templates -> System -> Logon -> Hide entry points for Fast User Switching = Enabled

Hello CheyeNnne, you can do this from Registry as well. Open registry editor and navigate to the following location:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System"

Here you need to create a new DWORD key and name it as "HideFastUserSwitching"
Doublew click the same and change its value according to your need, it works as given below:

    Value 1 turns it ON
    Value 0 turns it OFF
