| Media Center missing components
Help I installed the web guide software on my 64bit Vista PC, it work for about 20 minutes gave an error then once I rebooted Media Center could not find any recorded shows and reports missing or corrupt componants Windows Media Center component registration may have failed. I tried rerunning the setup within Media Center but eshell reports a failure in the application log. I have also tried doing a Restore point and that doesn't seem to fix it. So how do you reinstalled Media Center or register the missing componants, it would be nice if it was on the add remove list. Thanks Mike... |

To resolve this issue, use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue, and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. 2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. I ran the scanner and it found no errors, I tried running Media Center setup from with Media center and it crashes when it asks me if it is Cable or Satelite. On restarting it asks me which kind of setup I want but doesn't so anything if I select one. I now get static on the screen if I trya and watch TV like it is not on the right channel. No data is available in the guide but the channels seem correct. I then Tried to just change the TV Signal Setup and it crashed again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mike...
