Fatal Execution Engine Error

My laptop crashed and now I have a fatal error when starting Windows XP Media
Center Edition. The error is:

Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7927f26e).

When I acknowledge that error the following dialog is displayed:

hpqthb08.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Some of my applications now will not run at all. Others run but with
errors. Any suggestions about what to do for fix this problem? (I have a
Live OneCare backup available but OneCare is one of the applications that
will not run correctly.)

Re: Fatal Execution Engine Error

All I know is that that exe is:

hpqthb08.exe improves the time HP Image Zone takes to load. If you disable the process, HP Image Zone takes longer to start. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.

I'm looking into how to disable it.
