Computer is running low on Memory Quit other programs and try agai

Hi,
I bought two brand new Laptops
1. Toshiba with AMD Athlon X2, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD
2. Linovo with Intel Core 2 Duo 2GBRAM , 160GB HD

On both of these Laptops,
I am trying to play movie clip by pasting URL (Ctrl U) in Media player. The
Media player is giving the following error message.

---Computer is running low on Memory Quit other programs and try again

I googled a lot to see any help is avilable but of no use. I tri to download
new version of Media Player but Microsoft web site says I have the latest
version on these systems.

This is a shock to me. Any help is appreciated.

Sure that's not "virtual memory" aka disk space used to swap out
programs ? With 2gb, typically windows might reserve about 3-4gb disk
space for that.

Have a read of this article, see if anything twigs with you :

There seem to be some vaguely related discussions on this page
http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...5702&SiteID=17

Does anything at all there sound familiar, in any of the posters
messages ?

Some 'memory' issues seem to be related to an out of date MDAC
(database engine) which is used to manage the WMP library. In that
case, it's a misleading error message.

Try running MDAC component checkerto see if you're up to date - I
think the latest version should be 2.8 SP1 of MDAC.

If it says anything earlier than MDAC 2.8 SP1 you should update from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

HTH
Cheers - Neil
