Configuration Error (Adding my Xbox 360 as an Extender)

After just getting my new computer (with Vista Ultimate) this past week, i
was excited to connect my 360 to my computer for the release of Halo 3.
However, as i tried to add my 360 as an extender, i ran into a problem. I
have continued to run into this problem over the last 24 hours.

When i get to the setup phase of the extender addition, i reach the third
step "Configuring Extender Settings". That is as far as i reach though. The
setup eventually times out, and i'm left with a message that reads:
Configuration Error

I have been online for hours searching through help forums and dicussions,
and have yet to find any answers. Any help here would be wonderful.

**Side information: I'm using a D-Link 5 port 10/100mbps switch to connect
my computer to my 360. My 360 is recognized on my computer network and i am
already able to share files between the two, i just can't connect through
media center.

Suggestions? Help? ANYTHING!!?!

Re: Configuration Error (Adding my Xbox 360 as an Extender)

Please check the Application, System, Media Center, and Security Event
Viewer logs (right click Computer --> Manage) for any errors corresponding
to the time that you attempted to add your Extender and saw this behavior.

I am experiencing the same problem. The media center log reports that media
center extender setup failed with error code -209

Re: Configuration Error (Adding my Xbox 360 as an Extender)

Oftentimes a -209 will be preceded by other events. Please look at the logs
in the minute or two prior to the -209; are there any other events?

Re: Configuration Error (Adding my Xbox 360 as an Extender)

These are the events listed from one -209 error to the next. I checked the
other logs and found no events with this time frame. I have the 360
connected directly to the second wired port on my PC. I can connect to xbox
live and play media on the 360 using the media blade. Thank you

Re: Configuration Error (Adding my Xbox 360 as an Extender)

Thank you, I had a secondary MAC address setup, don't know why, but it
connected like a charm after removing it.

Config Error - Windows Media Center Extender - Xbox 360

I've tried everything in the guide to get my 360 connected to my media center PC.

I run on Vista, and until recently, have been able to connect just fine. I'm receiving the same error, 209, the only difference between all of the alerts someone recently posted and my alerts is that I have Norton 360. I'm pretty sure it's something to do with my PC, because I also haven't been able to access any of my media on my Playstation 3 either. Any help would be much appreciated!

The simple solution would be to remove Norton.

Norton software is known to interfere with Media Center functions.

Re: Configuration Error (Adding my Xbox 360 as an Extender)

I am a step away from completing the whole process of connecting my xbox to the pc.

However i have the following problem: When i try to install the Windows Live Onecare program (which is supposed to be a prerequisite for the succesful completion of the process) i get a message "the system language is not supported by the pc". According to what i have read the Onecare programme is not supported in my area (Greece).

Is there any other way to skip thw installation of the Onecare or use another programme? The guide in the xboxsetup.com does not shows an alternative for this.
Thanks
