| TV Tuner Conexant Falcon-II problems w/ analog video input have attempted to upload video content from an analog Hi8 camera with no success. I have worked with HP support to at least get the tuner card recognized and make sure that the drivers are correct. Where HP seems to fail is that none of the SW that they have bundled will do this task. So they keep telling me to go download trials or buy 3rd party SW. I have tried a few that have also failed to work. It seems to me that they are guessing about this compatibility issue. I would appreciate any insights. 1) What video formats will the Conexant Falcon-II output ?? (My board has the CX23416 encoder chip and the CX25843 decoder chip) 2) Any 3rd party video SW must accept the format of the Falcon-II (above) Clues ? 3) Most of the current DVD Video programs advertised do NOT explicitly state whether or not they are compatible with the Conexant Falcon-II design. Conexant appears to have allowed 4 or more manufacturers, such as ASUS, access to this reference design. 4) I can not get the tuner card respond when input is applied to the S-Video or the Composite line-in. Although the card does pass with a very snowy picture when signal is applied to the RF Line-in from my antenna/cable. |

| Re: TV Tuner Conexant Falcon-II problems w/ analog video input
The Microsoft Media Center has no features in it designed to accept video input other then TV programs. You can fool it by telling it you have a cable or satellite SetTopBox and then fully configure your MC IR remote, with its IR blaster, for input from the STB using S-video or composite and stereo audio. Then if you watch Live TV or make a manual recording it will accept the S-Video/composite and stereo inputs from your camera. The input from will then be MPEG2 compressed and encoded and passed to the MC software. One of the chips on your tuner card is a NTSC TV tuner chip and the other is the MPEG2 encoder chip used for all outputs to MC. Your card will output either raw TV video/audio for use by programs other then MC or MPEG encoded programs for use by MC.MS Movie Maker may be one such program but I am not sure. From what you have said HP does not include any separate program other then MC that will make use of its tuner card. My MC system has a Hauppauge TV tunner card and I use the Hauppauge TV tuner/video capture software to watch live or to record video from my VCR for later watchinng, editing or copying to DVDs. I am not aware of any DVD player programs that need or take advantage of any features on TV tuner cards. | Re: TV Tuner Conexant Falcon-II problems w/ analog video input
My HP came with an OEM version of Roxio MyDVD which can be run outside MCE. I wasn't particularly happy with it, so I insdtalled Nero 7. Using that, I can capture video from my tuner outside MCE. Check for My DVD on your computer. "Curious" wrote: > The Microsoft Media Center has no features in it designed to accept video > input other then TV programs.
