    Reinstall Media Center

Whenever I start Media Center then I am getting an error message which is written below:

ehshell.exe - Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id = 0xc18 (3096), thread id 0x14c0 (5312). (The ids change.

I then ran a utility called to repair Media Center but it gave me an error saying that "ehTrace.dll is missing". I am also not able to start any of the MCE services. Is there any way to remove and reinstall only the Media Center component, which will solve the case? If so then how is it possible? Thanks for any suggestion

    RE: Reinstall Media Center

Check to see if you have the Media Center Edition 2005 and then try the below to reinstall Media Center Components:
    1. First of all close Media Center
    2. After that click on the Start menu, choose run and type cmd
    3. You have to then execute the command regsvr32.exe atl.dll
    4. After that execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /unregServer
    5. Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /service
    6. Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /unregServer
    7. Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /service
    8. Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /unregServer
    9. Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /regserver
    10. Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /unregServer
    11. Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /regserver
    12. And lastly restart Media Center and see if that works.

    RE: Reinstall Media Center

Thanks for the solution but that did not work in my case and still I am getting the common problem of "ehTrace.dll" missing everytime. I think that some of the other components were missing from the eHome directory and so I copied them from the Cab file that I found and it seems to have worked for me. But I dont know where to restore ehTrace since it does not seems to be in the Cab file.
