Windows XP Pro Drivers for MCE "ehome infrared transceiver"???

Just wondering if there are Windows XP drivers available for the "ehome
infrared transceiver" that you'd normally use in Windows MCE.

Just picked up a USB AVC-3610 dual tuner and want to test it out.

Thx!

Yes. They came with SP2.

Hmm. You shouldn't. They work on my XP Pro SP2 machines.

Re: Windows XP Pro Drivers for MCE "ehome infrared transceiver"???

That's what I thought too.

I plugged the unit into my MCE PC and it installed fine.

I tried to install manually, but the closest device I have for Microsoft is
"Microsoft eHome Remote Consumer Controls"

Anyone know what I need to move from my MCE PC to my XP Pro SP2 machine to
make sure that this device is working?

Re: Windows XP Pro Drivers for MCE "ehome infrared transceiver"???

Hi,
I have the same problem. When I connect the transceiver to a USB port it
makes the usual sound, but it shows up in Device Manager under Other devices
in yellow. When I try to install a driver the wizard can't find one. I do
have XP MC with SP2 installed. Any advice?

Re: Windows XP Pro Drivers for MCE "ehome infrared transceiver"???

If you're in America, you could try walking up to Redmond and asking them
what they're playing at. I've got the same problem too. I've gone round and
round in circles just trying to get this driver installed properly on MCE
2005 (which presumably is a flavour of XP Pro SP2 +). Microsoft Update (and
therefore Windows Update) "can't find the software required". Great, so what
do they think I'm capable of doing to get the product I paid for to work if
they can't find their own software?

There are drivers. They are documented. Certainly claimed ot have been part
of SP2, although my computer can't find the driver in my CD of SP2. I get the
feeing that there may be a later driver, part of ehome Infrared Transceiver
Update Rollup 1a or something like that. I'm not sure, or can't remember
off-hand, whether that's later or earlier than XP SP2. Its not relevant
anyway because Windows Update and Microsoft Update, to which one invevitably
gets referred, both don't want to download any eHome Infrared Driver driver
for me i one way or another. whther I've left the USB device plugged in and
tried to upgrade to a working driver, or uninstalled the driver then
unplugged the device and plugged it in again, or any scenario you care to
mention. It seems this is Microsoft's black hole. It might be funny If I
hadn't paid so much for this so far useless 'Media Center' software. I'm
willing to give the serial number to Microsoft to prove my installation is
both paid for and legal, but there apprears to be no way to talk to
Microsoft, who just take your money and hide.

Re: Windows XP Pro Drivers for MCE "ehome infrared transceiver"???

You probably can't find it separate, because like thousands of other drivers
in Windows, it is part of the base load of MCE 2005. In the handful of MCE
installs I have done, I just plug the receiver in and it works, I have never
needed to go find drivers.

Are you using a genuine MS remote or some other brand?

Yes BTW, MCE 2005 is built on top of XP Pro SP2 and you should not load SP2
separately, that *will* hose MCE and you will need to start over with a
fresh install.
