| Unable to logon to Windows XP locally - No logon box
Hello. I have an AD domain with one Windows 2000 server and one Windows 2003 server. Mostly Windows 2000 clients, some Windows XP clients. There is a problem with 1 XP box. When you boot the computer, the regular blue background comes up and the mouse is visible and active, but there is no box that says "press ctrl+alt+del to logon." I am however able to logon to the machine using remote desktop. I am getting a couple errors repeating in the event log: Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1085 Date: 3/12/2007 Time: 8:50:16 AM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: EDMONTON1 Description: The Group Policy client-side extension Security failed to execute. Please look for any errors reported earlier by that extension. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. AND Event Type: Warning Event Source: SceCli Event Category: None Event ID: 1202 Date: 3/12/2007 Time: 8:50:16 AM User: N/A Computer: EDMONTON1 Description: Security policies were propagated with warning. 0x4b8 : An extended error has occurred. For best results in resolving this event, log on with a non-administrative account and search http://support.microsoft.com for "Troubleshooting Event 1202's". For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. In Winlogon logging, I get the following error: ----Configure Registry Keys... Configure machine\software. Warning 1336: The access control list (ACL) structure is invalid. Error setting security on machine\software\Licenses. Configuration of Registry Keys was completed with one or more errors. Any ideas??? I can't seem to figure this out. Thanks! Avis |
