RE: Windows Media Player makes a "skipping" sound continuously in song

I have exactly the same problem. It has nothing to do with the file - all
files I play skip. I've been on the phone for hours with Dell tech support
to no avail. Would really appreciate a reply to lojucr at yahoo dot com

thanks

If your system indicates Sigmatel sound device, have a read of this
article. Update the drivers for the sound device, then try turning off
the audio enhancements to see if that resolves the issue.

No Sigmatel sound device, same problem. It has to be something else, no
problem with other players, please help!

Re: Windows Media Player makes a "skipping" sound continuously in

OK to determine what something else might be, we'd need to know what
media player version and operating system you're on, for starters.

You can find out the player version from the menu Help -> About
windows media player (press CTRL + M to show menus if they're not
visible)

Often it's worth updating sound card drivers anwyays, so try on the
Dell site with the service tag on the PC to see what's available

Windows Media Player makes a "skipping" sound continuously in song

I have not tested this with other media players but i have a similar
problem...

I run WMP10 and WMC usually for music and at 10 seconds before the end
of EVERY song that is playing from the hard drive it skips. Now, i dont
have this problem if i am streaming the same content to my Xbox 360...
anyone have any ideas?

Re: Windows Media Player makes a "skipping" sound continuously in song

So when you go to the webpage mentioned in the original post, to get
instructions for turning off audio enhancements, does that help ?
