Windows Vista Ultimate and XBOX 360

I got issue after updating Windows Vista. I had configured Xbox on it and shared my media content through RJ45 Cable. But somehow after performing update it is lost. The xbox is not at all detected in windows and causing failure to access multimedia files. I need some help to get the old settings back. Xbox is detected but it does not all me to stream the videos and somehow it is being blocked. Plugging and unplugging the same does not help much.

Try to reconfigure the console one more time. You can check back in Xbox settings. There you find a set of application that can help you. To find more information on the error go in My Computer > Manage > Event Viewer. In that choose the application and find the logs details in that. There you will be able to find the exact cause of issue. I think this is a kind of permission issue.

I have the same issue. I have previously tried beta versions of Vista MCE and have had no problem. I've now bought my own legal copy of Vista Ultimate and can't get my 360 to work as an extender. My 360 must be able to see my PC as when I try to connect from my Extender a small dialogue box appears saying do you want to go to Media Center and configure your extender so there must be connectivity. I then start the config and enter my 8 character Xbox 360 code. I then get to the screen where is says Configuring your Extender and gets stuck on just gets stuck on Searching for Extender.I have reinstalled Vista so there's absolutely nothing else installed other than the default installation. I get the following errors in the event log and unhelpfully when it offers to connect me to Microsoft they have no info for the error code.

    This one is successful:

The issue lies with the network. You have to reconfigure the permission back from scratch. Then it will be able to access and you can get back your shared content. It happens a number of time. Also disable your firewall for sometime and the test the same. This is basically a permission issue due to which you are facing the error.

Change the network settings. Try to reboot your system and reconfigure the entire network. When you run updates Windows activates the firewall and also UAC. Due to which you get that issue. It is recommended that you must check the network settings and manage all the permissions one by one.
