unable to install Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition

Currently having a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. When I’m trying to install Rollup 2 on this system, it ends up with the following error message:

"Unable to install Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (KB900325)"

I tried searching web for some help regarding this but nothing worked so far. Hope someone here can provide me working solution for the same. Thank you.

Why are you trying to install an update for Windows XP Media Center Edition
2005 on Vista ?

This is a Windows MCE 2005 machine, not Vista.

I don’t think that matters because I already have NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installed but still facing the same problem. Any further advice please?

Before I could help or provide any workout on this I would like to know media center identity number. Can you just open up registry and navigate to this location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Ident key

Here don’t make any changes, just reply back with the number you see at this location.

It seems that this may be a problem related to the ident set of your windows edition. I had problems with Microsoft Zune software on MCE and found this solution to my problem. It seems this may help here also.

wow i get this "Setup cannot continue because one or more perequisites required to install KB925766 failed. For More details check the Log File c:\windoes\KB925766.log"
